Transition time!
Follow the flow of nature

The other day I had a chat with someone living almost on the other side of the planet – on this beautiful blue and green ball we’re all sitting on (in case you’re not reading this from you space shuttle).

I mentioned that where I live, we’re now facing fall with shorter days, a lot of rain and colorful leaves. And got the reply that they were moving into their hottest period of the year – even if it’s still considered to be fall!

Interesting, huh?

So while I’m looking forward to getting ready to curl up with tea and candles over here, maybe you are sweating through your days right now – even though we’re both moving into a new season.

However, if you are heading into spring, read on over here instead, to get the spring edition of this post. But if you are moving into fall, keep reading here.

Honor the change and enjoy the ride

When nature passes some kind of tipping point or peak, like an equinox or a solstice, it’s a great time to take a moment, both outward and inward, to acknowledge the change.

This is to get clear on that we’re facing a new season and take appropriate actions to follow along.

Even though the earth is BIG and the seasonal changes are very different from place to place (as the story above tells…), there’re still some general guidelines to take into consideration to be in time, with time.

Here are some ideas to help you embrace the coming season.

Here’s what to do for your outer space during fall – Practical

  • Remove and store any stuff from the previous season. Like clothes, leisure and sports equipment, outdoor furniture and things like that. Replace with what belongs to this coming phase instead.
  • Change indoor fabrics and textiles like pillows, throws, beddings, curtains, tablecloths, towels, etc. to follow along with the new season.

Fall  =  warm, cozy, and thick materials.

  • The change goes for colors as well. One way to get inspiration is to look for what colors are appearing in nature for this coming season.

Fall  =  darker and sober color and hues.

  • Add flowers, plants or other things from nature that reflect this time of the year.
  • Have seasonal fruits and veggies at a display and strive to eat food from the current season as well.

Have a look around and be aware of what you see in your space – outdoor and indoor. Is there anything that actually more belongs to the phase you’re now leaving behind, and that could be tucked away until it’s time for it again?

It’s all about being up to date with the current season.

Here’s what to consider for your inner state during fall – Metaphorical

You can also see the changes in nature metaphorically, which you probably already do but might not be aware of since most of this just comes naturally.

However, by paying more deliberate attention to it and consider how you can make use of it, you might experience better timing and ease with what you’re up to.

Fall is all about:

  • Slowing down and appreciate what we got.
  • Harvest and finalizing projects.
  • Collecting and moving inwards.
  • It’s like the afternoon of the year.

Play around with this, and see how it can support you and your life.

Over to you!

  • What’s your biggest “aha” after reading this?
  • What’s one thing you could easly do to be more in sync with the current season?
  • Do you have any special routines or rituals or doings for seasonal changes you want to tell us about?
