Use the greenery as the scenery!
Your kitchen rule of thumb

(well, that title might be a little off, but I hope the message gets through – at least after you’ve read the post…)

I don’t know about you, but some kitchens just make me long to sit down and beg “Please, feed me!” – I just want to be served sort of anything from there. Even just a glass of water, maybe with a slice of lemon, would taste like heaven.

The secret?

Nope, it’s not a fancy interior design or massive impressive kitchen utensils.

It’s something so basic and so natural and so easy to accomplish you can do it in any kitchen. Yes, any. Read on and, since we’re talking kitchen and food here, I’ll spill the beans for you (sorry for the pun…).

Turn your kitchen into a deli showcase

We all know the benefits of nourishing, tasty and healthy food – goodies that make your body and soul happy and energetic.

Since that’s the case, we need to start with the ingredients, right?
(no, I’m not sharing a yummy recipe here, even though that would be nice…)

But the ingredients are not only the starting point for the meal; it’s also the starting point for the eating experience and more so, how you perceive the kitchen.

A kitchen is supposed to support and inspire to create healthy and nourishing, and of course, super delicious meals.

To encourage this, one simple trick is to display tasty stuff, which sort of sets the tone for the food to come. That’ll kick start your imagination and inspiration, and it’s like you’re informing yourself and anyone else that “hey, delicious food is coming up. Want some?”.

Think of it like your own little deli, or indoor garden if you prefer that, where you’re invited to enjoy, pick and choose from all the appetizing pieces and where you can just revel in the goodies. Sounds nice, huh?

It should be like teasers, or even spoiler alerts, because;

What you see is what you get!

(Okay that’s, of course, true for any space, but for the kitchen, it’s literarily true, and most of us rather get fresh, healthy food than the opposite…)

Think of it for a second, and imagine a kitchen where you see a bunch of fresh fruits and veggies, healthy herbs happily growing well (waving to you from their little pots) – it’s kind of hard to not look forward to what’s going to be served.

You don’t have to display half a green grocery store, just go with what you have. Three tomatoes in a bowl or a basil plant in a glass of water will do perfectly fine. And if you’re many in the household, show off a big plate with your peeps favorite fruits and greens – enough for everyone.

You get the idea; create your own little deli and display anything that would inspire you to a heavenly feast – even if that’s’ just a glass of water with a lemon slice.

So, here’s what to do:

  • Go have a look in your kitchen – what do you actually see? Is there any fresh and eatable stuff in sight that could inspire to lovely meals?
  • Put fruits, veggies, herbs on display – show off the goodies you’ve got!
  • Make sure that everything is fresh and looks good and happy.
  • Keep an eye on it and use it before it starts to fade and decay.
  • The key is to expose fresh and nourishing food that signals that luscious food is served here.

Over to you!

I’m curious to know:

  • How do you keep your kitchen inspiring, delightful and tempting?
  • Do you have any other questions or thoughts about this?

I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
